This seminar is being instructed by:
Robert Ruffalo, PT, DC, CCSP, TPI CGFI-MP3
This seminar is appropriate for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants because it takes into account the ambitious surge for professional advancement which permeates the profession of Physical Therapy. It draws attention to the fact that when a profession develops new and exciting horizons, arrival at them can only be achieved when those with vision recognize that their actions automatically demand the acceptance of wider and more stringent responsibilities, especially when it comes to accountability for the results of their endeavors.
Professional treatment requires that the therapist knows what is being treated. Professional treatment is judged by the predictability of its outcome. Professional treatment demands that the outcome be achieved in a predicted time frame and is evidence based.
There is no place for trial and error in professional treatment or guesswork as to the structure in which a pathological change giving rise to symptoms is situated. Structural diagnosis (assessment) is stressed based on anatomical knowledge.
A patient may seek help from therapy with their symptoms arising from pathological changes which are in one or two states. These are, the healing phase and the healed phase which may be called the restoration phase. It is the duty of the therapist to make the professional decision as to the phase in which the patient presents. The course draws attention to certain frequently overlooked diagnosable conditions which are readily treatable by the Physical Therapist. Essentially the course provides a new appreciation of the musculoskeletal system in medicine.
